Monroe County Sheriff’s Office “Beards for Bucks” Fundraiser
We wish to sincerely thank you for your unwavering support of our foundation and our family over the years!! Since losing our Joshua in 2005, we have received overwhelming support and kindness from so many of you!!
Being chosen as the donation recipient for the December 2022 “Beards for Bucks” fundraiser was such a gift to us. Thank you so very much!!! We were deeply touched when over 150 MCSO members chose to donate to our cause during such a financially difficult time of year! Together, you raised $4738.23 in one month! These funds will go directly towards events and grants already in place that support bereaved families in our area.
In addition to your year-end generosity, many MCSO members chose to donate to us via the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes Campaign over the years. In 2022 alone, our foundation received $1,312 from MCSO’s United Way donations!!
Overall, since 2016, when we were officially designated as a United Way Charity, MCSO members have donated a total of $13,825 to the Josh Rojas Foundation through the Greater Rochester and Finger Lakes annual Campaigns!!! AMAZING!! We cannot, of course, forget the number of “Dodge for Josh” dodge ball teams over the years, the boxers who participated in the “Josh Bouts” from 2007-2009, the kind gestures and monetary gifts received when Joshua passed, the sheer number of deputies and officers that attended Josh’s services, and the MCSO co-workers who came to our home during our most devastating time. Whether you played LAX catch with our daughter in the back yard, so she had a bit of normalcy, chatted with Pat on the back deck so he could grieve with you or came to mow the yard for your brother who was simply just too sad to do it, we remember each and every kindness!!
Please take care of yourselves and remember that our family prays for your safety daily and our foundation continues to flourish thanks to all of you! All in honor of one little boy who loved and respected his Daddy and all “Daddy’s friends.”

We were recently featured on Channel 13 WHAM News following the Buffalo Bill’s player’s medical emergency in early January. They contacted us for an interview, and we were able to share that no matter how long ago the loss of a child occurs, parents continually struggle with triggers and resurgence of grief for the rest of their lives. In case you missed it, below is a link to view the coverage.
